Four ships of the United States Navy carried the name USS United States , but only one was put into service under this name:
- USS United States (1797) , frigate and first flagship of the United States Navy
- USS United States (CC-6) , a Lexington-class battle cruiser, stopped and dismantled after 12% construction progress
- USS United States (CVA-58) , an aircraft carrier that was abandoned five days after the keel was laid
- CVN-75 was a United States laid down on, but for political reasons during construction in USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) 'renamed
