Ulla Schmidt (theologian)

Ulla Schmidt (born December 19, 1966 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish Protestant theologian and university teacher (practical theology).

Schmidt came to Oslo with her parents at the age of seven , where she graduated from high school in 1984. She then studied Protestant theology at the Menighetsfakultet (parish faculty ) in Oslo. In 1991 she passed the theological candidate exam, in 1998 she was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD. From 1999 to 2001 she was forskningsleder at Norges forskningsråd , from 2002 to 2014 Senior Forsker at the ecclesiastical Institutt for kirke-, religions- og livssynsforskning in Oslo, and from 2004 to 2012 she was part-time professor of ethics at the theological faculty of the University of Oslo . Since 2014 she has been teaching as a professor of practical theology at Aarhus University .

Schmidt's research focuses on theological ethics, in particular bioethics (from 2004 to 2008 she was a member of the Norwegian Biotechnology Council) and professional ethics , as well as church sociology and empirical research methods in theology.
