A circulating chain is a special form of the running chains of a vehicle. Instead of letting the chains run around several axes underneath the vehicle, the circulating chain encloses the entire vehicle body.

use

Revolving chains are no longer in use today due to several defects. In contrast to a normal track chain, circulating chains tend to be damaged by accidents, they are more difficult to maintain and more complex to assemble. Known Uses of circulating chains are for example the British tanks of the First World War . There the circulating chain was used together with the diamond shape of the tank for a high off-road mobility. After the war, however, this concept was abandoned again, as the unprotected chains are extremely susceptible to fire and thus further weaken a weak point in the tank.
