The association was founded in Lens in 1924 by immigrants from the Ruhr Poles . Clubs in which more than three foreigners played could not take part in competitions organized by the Fédération Française de Football . Polish citizenship was a requirement for membership in the associations of the PZPNweF. Initially there were nine clubs, later the number rose to 40. In October 1929 the association was accepted as an extraordinary member of the Polish Olympic Committee. The association had its own selection team, the friendlies u. a. against Wisła Krakow , KS Cracovia , Pogoń Lwów and Warta Poznań . In the 1935 season, 12 teams played in the first amateur division and 23 teams played in the lower tier.

Among these teams, mainly from the mining area of Nord-Pas-de-Calais , were: Pogoń Auchel, Océan Calonne-Ricourt, Wicher Houdain, Unia Bruay-en-Artois, Olympia Divion, Fortuna Haillicourt, Wiktorja Barlin, Urania Noeux -les-Mines, Wisła Hersin-Coupigny, Naprzód Commentry, Odra Commentry, Fortuna Bethune, Rapid Ostricourt, Ruch Carvin, Gwiazda Lens, Polonia Waziers and Orion Montceau-les-Mines.

In 1936, some clubs left the association and became members of the communist workers' sports federation, Fédération sportive et gymnique du travail (FSGT) . During the German occupation of France, the Polish clubs were still active. The PZPN in France was reactivated after the war. In 1945 the association had 4,000 members, including 843 players in 27 clubs.

On November 17, 1947, the association decided to leave the Central Union of Poles in France , which was recognized by the Polish government in exile . In the second half of the 1940s, the association's clubs held friendly matches in the People's Republic of Poland . The Polish Football Association in France was dissolved by ministerial decree of November 24, 1950. In 1952 most of the clubs joined the FSGT, or the French Football Association, or were dissolved.
