Entertainment film

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An entertainment film is a fictional film (e.g. a feature film or animated film ) that is more aimed at entertainment than instruction, opinion- forming or indoctrination .

The term is primarily used scientifically in Nazi film research , where, in addition to notorious propaganda films, the objects of investigation also include films in which a political or ideological content can hardly be proven.

The use of the term "entertainment film" is also widespread in film criticism , where it is mostly used to label or brand "lighter" - that is, feature films that are less demanding in terms of content and form - that do not meet high quality standards. However, since it is less the entertaining quality of "entertainment films" than their lack of artistic quality that is being criticized, this linguistic usage is questionable.
