Infiltration corrosion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Infiltration corrosion describes the destruction of a glued joint part by a corrosive infiltration of the adhesive layer. Such a break is thus not caused by failure of the adhesive layer, but by material destruction that starts outside the adhesive joint.
To circumvent this problem, a surface treatment (e.g. conversion coatings ) is required to ensure the aging resistance of the component to be joined.
