Utagawa Kunitoshi (ukiyo-e artist, 1868)

Utagawa Kunitoshi ( Japanese 歌 川 国 歳 ) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who was active from 1868 to 1912.

The ukiyoe binran , handbook of ukiyoe artists , from 1893 lists Kunitoshi as a pupil of Toyokuni III. ( Utagawa Kunisada ) and mentions that he was active from the Genji or Keiō era.

The Japanese Wikipedia contains a listing of six well-known works by his hand. These include two pictures of beautiful women, bijin-ga , the painting of a ghost, two painted hand scrolls depicting fire fighting operations in Tokyo and a theater poster promoting a kabuki performance.

Further data about him or his works are not known.
