Víti (Isl. Víti "hell") is a lake in the caldera of the Askja volcano .
Like its big brother, the Öskjuvatn , just a few meters away , it was created during a volcanic eruption in 1875. It is 50 m below the level of the caldera. It has a diameter of around 300 m and is around 8 m deep. Its high-sulfur water has a temperature of around 20 ° C to 24 ° C.
