Association of Iranian University Lecturers and Academics in Germany
The Association of Iranian University Lecturers and Academics in Germany (VIHA) was founded in November 1989 and aims to promote scientific and cultural relations between Germany and Iran .
Purpose of the association
The specific goals of the association can be summarized as follows:
- Support for academically interested forces in Iran; in particular by promoting the teaching activities of German and Iranian university teachers living in Germany as well as academics in Iran.
- Assistance with the establishment and expansion of scientific institutions in Iran.
- Exchange of scientifically relevant knowledge by organizing congresses and promoting the participation of Iranian university lecturers and academics in scientific events in Germany.
- Support for Iranian students in Germany.
- Support in the publication of scientific papers in subject-specific Iranian journals.
- Assistance with the reintegration of academics trained in Germany into Iran.
- Help in disaster cases and areas.

- Scientific seminars
There are regular meetings such. B. on medical topics, technology, environmental problems and culture.
- Specialist conferences
In October 2013, a specialist conference on information technology was held for the first time in cooperation with the IT and management consultancy axxessio. The event brought together international IT experts from the fields of science and industry with Iranian descent and enabled the exchange of ideas on current IT topics.
- Group travel to Iran
The group trips to Iran by VIHA members serve primarily to establish contacts with local scientists, to get to know the state of education and research in the country and to intensify scientific exchange.
- Humanitarian and charitable actions
VIHA sends out medication and offers medical treatment and advice to provide assistance in emergencies. In addition, the association gives away technical and medical equipment to non-profit and scientific institutions, offers study grants and supports with relief measures after earthquake disasters as well as with the construction of medical centers.
