Vallette refers to the assistants of showmasters on Italian television who can, but do not have to have talents as actress, dancer or singer. A Valletta first appeared in the 1950s with Mike Bongiorno on the show Lascia o raddoppia? on.

etymology

Valletta is the feminine form of the aging Italian valletto , which corresponds to the German page (both at court and in hotels). The word comes from the French valet , the abbreviation of vasselet , which, like the German vassal , comes from the Latin vassallus .
