Association of Swiss Electricity Companies

The Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE) is the industry association for the Swiss electricity industry . At the national level, it represents the interests of around 400 members. The association was founded in 1895 and merged on July 1, 2007 with the similar association of French-speaking Switzerland , Les Electriciens Romands (ER) . The head office is in Aarau .

Association goals

The association advocates good framework conditions for electricity companies as well as a secure power supply, informs the public about topics of the electricity industry and offers its members various services.

Members

The association has around 400 members from the electricity industry, made up of private, mixed-economy and public companies from Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. They produce, transmit, distribute or trade in electricity and ensure around 90 percent of the electricity supply in Switzerland. 15 percent are pure production plants, 53 percent pure distribution plants and 28 percent mixed plants (production, transmission, distribution or trading).

Since the merger with Les Electriciens Romands (ER) , VSE has had a branch in Lausanne . The association is represented in Italian-speaking Switzerland through its close collaboration with Elettricità Svizzera italiana (ESI) . The VSE employs a total of 40 people at its two branches in Aarau and Lausanne. The board is made up of representatives from the industry associations and various interest groups in the electricity industry. Kurt Rohrbach, CEO of BKW Energie , has been President of VSE since 2008 . Michael Frank has been the director since March 1, 2011.

Publications

The official publication organ is the specialist journal Bulletin SEV / VSE , which VSE publishes together with Electrosuisse .
