The association for career counseling and apprentice care was founded in 1923 on the initiative of the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations. The predecessor organization of the Swiss Association for Vocational Counseling (SVB), financed by the Confederation and the cantons as well as several women's organizations , soon became an important coordination and consultation body for vocational training.
