from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cross of Merit for Voluntary Nursing was donated on March 5, 1901 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria as a peace and war award for outstanding achievements in the service of voluntary nursing.

The silver cross is enameled in white in the medallion on the front and surrounded by a light blue ring. The Red Cross can be seen in the middle . A crown in the upper arm of the cross . On the back a coat of arms with the Bavarian Wecken .

The cross was carried on a cornflower blue ribbon.

The award was presented with a silver clasp on the ribbon for service in the war. The year can then be seen on this ( 1870/71 or 1914 ). In very special cases, the crown was also awarded. This was then attached to the tape as a miniature.
