Magnification software

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If the eyesight is impaired, information on the computer screen can often only be perceived with great difficulty without visual assistance. Magnification software, also called screen magnification or large-screen system, prepares the screen information of a computer in a form suitable for the visually impaired.

Magnification software enables the computer image to be enlarged pixel by pixel. It is usually used together with large monitors in order to keep the magnification factor as low as possible. The software often has special color and contrast settings and enables the user to control the enlarged image section or to monitor areas not shown in the section. Further functions for special application contexts are e.g. B. different types of magnifying glasses or a document reading function.

Large screen systems are offered as software or as hardware solutions in the form of special plug-in cards and combined with standard monitors. Some systems can incorporate voice output as an additional output medium.
