Vermicelli stock
Vermicelli fond is a technical term used in porcelain painting . The name is derived from the French vermiculaire for "worm-like". It is a decorative surface that is mainly used as a background for portraits . It consists of dense, worm-like lines. It was developed in the porcelain manufactory Sèvres around 1770 and adopted by other manufacturers.
