Student counseling and funding

Liaison officers support students in their academic path. This can relate to general questions about the organization of studies or doctorates, or it can also mean being a point of contact for specific student groups, for example in the sense of academic mentoring projects or similar to the function of ombudsmen . Liaison lecturers are also active in the field of gifted education, representing the 13 gifted funding agencies and preparing reports and interviews with applicants as part of the respective selection process for study and doctoral grants. Liaison lecturers usually do their work on a voluntary basis and are prepared for their tasks by the guidelines of the gifted funding organizations. Scientific Advice

The German Research Foundation is represented at the German universities by liaison lecturers, who present the DFG funding programs and advise on the preparation of research proposals, especially for initial proposals. In most cases there is not a representative for every discipline, so that cross-disciplinary advice must also be provided. Liaison lecturers qualify through their own DFG experience, proven in particular through successful research projects or research associations. In addition, there are liaison lecturers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation or the Fulbright Commission at many universities .
