Quarter stone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The quarter stone is knocked out of the normal stone.

The term quarter stone (also quarter piece and quarter stone) describes a brick format in masonry construction . The quarter stone is traditionally knocked out of the normal stone with a mason's hammer and is a quarter the size of the normal stone. The quarter brick is used within masonry associations , chimneys or edging to fill gaps in the association. In addition to the quarter stone, half or three quarter stones are also used in masonry construction. The importance of quarter stones is declining in general, as flat stones or (high) perforated bricks are often cut to size as required, without referring to a normal stone format.
