Vigreux column
The Vigreux column is a laboratory device. The column is used in rectification - also called fractional distillation in common parlance - for the improved thermal separation of liquid mixtures. The slightly downwardly inclined indentations significantly increase the contact area between the gas phase and the glass. The Vigreux column was invented in 1904 by the French glassblower Henri Narcisse Vigreux .
Vigreux columns are available in different designs and lengths, with different standard ground joints , with and without (mirrored) vacuum jacket for better thermal insulation.
