Vilayet Konya

The Vilayet Konya ( Ottoman ولايت قونيه Vilâyet-i Konya ) was an Ottoman province ( Vilâyet ) which included parts of the ancient regions of Pamphylia , Pisidia , Phrygia , Lycaonia , Cilicia and Cappadocia .

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Konya area had an area of ​​91,620 km², while the preliminary results of the first Ottoman census in 1885 (published in 1908) put the population at 1,088,100.

In 1914, of the province's population, 750,712 were Muslim , 25,150 were Cappadocian Greeks (who spoke Cappadocian ) and 12,971 were Armenians . Due to the genocide of the Armenians and the persecution of the Greeks , the non-Muslim part of the population largely disappeared .
