The Villa Berberich is a former upper-class residential building in Bad Säckingen , Parkstrasse 1, which has been used as a museum since the 1980s and is a listed building.

history

The villa was built in 1874 for the textile industrialist Ignaz Berberich III. built. The villa was built on sloping terrain, so it appears lower at the front than at the back. Around the villa there is a large garden designed as a landscape park , and directly below the villa there is a pond with fountains.

The building was acquired by the city in the 1930s and used from 1941 to 1980 as part of the nearby Bad Säckinger Hospital.

In the 1980s, the building was converted into a museum and exhibition space for cultural purposes. There is a café on the ground floor. The villa shows exhibitions on various topics.

Due to financial bottlenecks, the city is considering re-privatizing the villa.

The Villa Berberich mineral museum of Mineralienfreunde Hochrhein - Fricktal eV has been located in Villa Berberich since 1984
