Von Den Ketten (VDK) was a German rock band, which emerged in 1995 by renaming from the Dynamic Front (DF) formation, which was founded in 1992 .

In the early 1990s, the band was one of the founders of a new German-speaking subgenre that has been known as the New German Hardship since Rammstein's emergence in the music world . 250 copies of DF 7-inch vinyl Schuldig , released in 1992, were pressed. Various club gigs were organized at the same time.

As a result, the band realized the album Thousand Souls in 1994 . Hellborn Metal Radio on May 7th, 1998 reported: "... They even went over to German lyrics as one of the first bands in the harder scene." In addition to their own CD production, Tausend Seelen, there were also some appearances as the opening act for bands like Blind Guardian or Amorphis .

Rock Hard 4/1996 (Michael Rensen): “... Dynamic Front belong to the new generation of German heavy metal bands, which are not too good to sing in their mother tongue. Her self-produced debut Thousand Souls hits the nerve of the times. "

When in 1998 published over time bomb album transmissions was Oswald Henke ( Goethes Erben ) producer. Out of a thousand souls , around 800 were sold within one year, "Gears" were sold around 2000 times. Later a maxi with the title Die Sonne speaks zu Johann H. followed , along with two regular VDK titles, and a cover version of Falcos Jeanny, which was controversially discussed in fan forums after publication . The sequence in the middle section, spoken by Oswald Henke, was added to the original text and alludes to Falco's cocaine use .

The performance at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2001 in Leipzig, which also marks the last public appearance of the band, can be seen as the highlight of the development at that time. Von den Ketten broke up in December 2001 due to different future plans of the individual musicians.
