Cove light

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cove lights are lamps that are installed in the arched transition between wall and ceiling ( cove ). They are an element of room design using light (interior design).

The diffuse light of the cove lighting can be used as indirect lighting and has the effect of brightening the ceiling edges of a room. The luminaire body of certain cove luminaires itself forms the curve (cove). Many of the commercially available cove lights are equipped with tubular fluorescent lamps to emit evenly light. In order to avoid interruptions in the illumination, LED strips are also increasingly being used, which can be cut to fit.

Lighting effects

The light from cove luminaires is largely free of shadows, but light-directing measures must be implemented using prisms or reflectors , as the light can otherwise dazzle due to reflections due to reflections that are too high in luminance levels near the ceiling or in the ceiling. If the light strips do not overlap, the visible light-dark transitions in the socket area of the lamp can also be a nuisance.
