Wünschet Jerusalem Glück ( BWV Appendix 4) is a lost sacred cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach , which he composed in Leipzig and performed there on August 27, 1725 on the occasion of the change of council. The text of this Bach cantata comes from Christian Friedrich Henrici (also called Picander ), the music has been lost. Another performance took place on August 28, 1741, also in Leipzig.
The opening movement and both arias of the cantata Wünschet Jerusalem Glück, BWV Anh. 4a are probably parodies of this cantata.
The first sentence comes from the Book of Psalms ( Psalms 122, 6-7 EU ), the first stanza of the seventh sentence by Martin Luther .
