Forest wood chips

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wood chips from the forest are obtained from the low-quality wood that occurs during clearing , thinning and harvesting of forests. Wood chips are often around 5 cm, but usually less than 10 cm long. They are made with sharp, cutting tools. Under the range of wood chips is meant for the production of wood chips provided timber . It can be made up of limbed and unbranched trunk parts, tree tops, branches and full trees.

Forest wood chips are used energetically ( renewable energies ) and their provision is becoming increasingly important. Compared to pellets and split logs , wood chips are the energy wood range with the lowest production costs. The Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and funding programs for wood chip heating systems and heating plants are contributing to growing demand.
