Birštonas hill fort

The Wallburg Birštonas or Vytautas Hill (lit. Birštono Piliakalnis , Vytauto kalnas no. AR24) is a Castle Hill ( hill fort ) in the Lithuanian birštonas municipality , on the right bank of the Nemunas , 350 meters south of the church Birštonas .

Archaeological research was carried out in 1953 by the Lietuvos istorijos institutas . The finds are exhibited in the Lietuvos nacionalinis muziejus .

According to legends, Vytautas the Great often rested here . In the 14th century there was a wooden castle.
