Coat of arms of Olesno

The coat of arms of the city of Olesno (German: Rosenberg OS ) is split.

description

The city's coat of arms is split. In the front field it shows half a golden eagle on a blue background . In the back field it shows half a red rose on a silver background .

meaning

The golden eagle on a blue background is the eagle of the Opole line of the Silesian Piasts. The Opole Piasts were the founders and the owners of Rosenberg until the line became extinct in 1532.

history

A seal of the city from 1423 with the inscription "S (...) ROSENBERG" already shows the eagle and the rose next to each other freely in the field. A seal from the early 17th century with the inscription "* SIGILVM * CIVITATIS * ROSEBERG" shows an eagle and a rose in a split shield.

The current form of the coat of arms was confirmed on April 23, 1997 by the Olesno City Council.
