Water vortex fountain
The water vortex fountain is one of Bergheim's sights and works of art. It is located on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz in front of the "MEDIO.RHEIN.ERFT" event building in the district town of Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
History and description
The landscape architect Horst Victor Calles , who was significantly involved in the design of the Bergheim pedestrian zone, designed the fountain in 1981. The fountain consists of a hexagonal concrete shaft, which is surrounded at the top by a ring-shaped stainless steel band, from which the water falls on the inside. The stainless steel surface has a relief. The structures are reminiscent of wave forms and water eddies. The water is taken up by a circular, paved hollow in the ground. The circular motif is taken up by the paving, which is arranged concentrically around the fountain.
