Weigel harp

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Weigel harp is a chromatic harp with one string of strings.

history

The harpist Karl Weigel had the instrument patented on February 16, 1900. It is strung with 54 equally spaced strings. The instrument exhibited in the Deutsches Museum in Munich is a conversion of an Erard double pedal harp . The diameter of the strings suggests that the string tension is almost the same as that of the concert harp, but with a smaller distance. The instrument received hardly any attention.
