The Metzingen Wine Museum was opened in 1979. It is one of the most interesting wine-growing museums in the country, which documents past life and viticulture technology up to the present day with its collected exhibits from Metzingen families and the surrounding area .

The museum is located in the Herrschaftskelter on Kelterplatz in Metzingen. The wine press square with its seven wine presses is often referred to as the city's landmark. The centerpiece of the museum is the twelve-meter-long original winepress tree from 1655.
