Werdenberg Castle Festival
The Werdenberger Castle Festival held at regular intervals in the courtyard of since 1985 Werdenberg Castle instead. The focus is always on an opera production. The Swiss town of Werdenberg is the smallest festival town in Europe.
background
The supporting organization is the “Werdenberger Schloss-Festspiele Genossenschaft”. Its purpose is to “enrich regional cultural life, especially at Werdenberg Castle, through music theater, concerts or similar events”. According to the motto “Radiate beyond the region with regional culture”, cultural events are promoted. The backdrop of the castle from the 13th century provides the framework for the classical music event. Structural measures, which are carried out exclusively for these opera performances, offer both the stage and the grandstand a roofed-over possibility to carry out open-air performances even in doubtful weather. Over 4,000 visitors are expected for the opera and the supporting program. Since the visitors sit very close to the orchestra pit and grandstand in the small grandstand, no technical reinforcement is necessary.
