Workpiece zero point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The workpiece zero point is the coordinate origin of the part to be machined on a machine tool . The position of this point is determined by the programmer of the NC program. The point is often placed on the finished dimension or the lower plane surface of the workpiece to be machined, i.e. H. the tool must have reached this point at the end of a machining cycle. The point is independent of the clamping of the workpiece. All path information programmed in the NC program relates to this point.
