Wilhelm Spaethe is a former piano manufacturer in Gera , Thuringia.

history

The company was founded in 1858 by Wilhelm Spaethe the Elder. Ä. (Last name also written late ) founded. At the beginning harmonica instruments were made, later also pianoforte and grand pianos. With increasing international success, bandoneons were also produced. After the death of its founder on September 22, 1878, the company was initially run by his son Otto and later by his grandson Paul. Paul Späthe had the Villa Späthe built in Gera in 1910.

Wilhelm Ernst Spaethe and Otto Paul Spaethe were appointed as shareholders of the company to make kuk court pianoforte and harmonium manufacturers .

After the Second World War, from around 1950 the company concentrated entirely on restoring and repairing old furniture. Anne-Grit Kuhn has been in charge of the company since 1992.
