Willi Stiasny

Willi Stiasny (around 1899 - after 1950) was a German archivist .

Stiasny began working for AGO Flugzeugwerke at the age of 16 towards the end of 1915 . Later he worked for the LVG and the Rumpler-Werke . From around 1916 he began collecting aviation materials. Later, after the First World War , he was in charge of the official aviation archives in Berlin for many years: at the Aero Club, in the "Scientific Society for Aviation" and then as an archivist in the former Ministry of Aviation, where the archives were combined. During this time, Stiasny also kept records of the collection of the aviation journalist and former airship operator Hermann Moedebeck . In 1936 he published the book Flight through muscle strength . Today his archive, which covers the history of aviation from 1908 to around the Second World War, is in the holdings of the German Museum of Technology in Berlin. Willi Stiasny was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944 . He was still alive in the 1950s.
