William J. Mills

William Joseph Mills (born January 11, 1849 in Yazoo City , Yazoo County , Mississippi , †  December 24, 1915 in Las Vegas , New Mexico ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) and from 1910 to 1912 the last governor of the New Mexico Territory .

In 1878, Mills was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives. Between 1881 and 1882 he was in the Senate of this state. After moving into the New Mexico Territory, he was from 1898 to 1910 Judge of the Supreme Court ( Supreme Court ) in the area. In 1910 he was named the last territorial governor of New Mexico. He held this office until 1912, when New Mexico became a state of the United States.
