William W. Snow

William W. Snow (born April 27, 1812 in Heath , Massachusetts , † September 3, 1886 in Oneonta , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William W. Snow was born in Franklin County about two months before the outbreak of the British-American War . He attended public schools. He then did an apprenticeship as a wool carder and cloth dresser . In 1831 he moved to Oneonta in Otsego County . He worked in the wool carding business in 1841 and entered the pewter and hardware store in 1842. He also pursued agricultural activities. In 1844 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1850 congressional elections for the 32nd Congress , Snow was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 21st  constituency of New York , where he succeeded Hiram Walden on March 4, 1851 . He retired from the after March 3, 1853 Congress of.

In 1870 he was back in the New York State Assembly. He was a supervisor in Oneonta in 1873 and 1874 . In 1877 he held the post of State Excise Commissioner . He was on the Village Board of Trustees . He was also active in the banking business. He died on September 3, 1886 in Oneonta and was then buried in Riverside Cemetery .
