WinEdt is shareware - text editor for Windows from Windows 7. Earlier WinEdt versions have already appeared for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / 7 and Windows 9x / ME / NT with restrictions. WinEdt is primarily designed as a development interface for the LaTeX typesetting program. The first version appeared in April 1995 for Windows 3.1 . From version 5.5 (2007) the software can also handle UTF-8 files to a limited extent, from version 7.0 (2012) WinEdt offers full UTF-8 support. Starting with version 8.0 (2013), there is a 64-bit version in addition to the 32-bit variant.
