The term rubber pants (also rubber pants ) is often used as a paraphrase for "diaper pants" or "diaper cover pants". They used to be used together with cloth diapers , which meant a lot of time to clean. Rubber pants were also frequently used in nursing and care for the elderly until around 1985, when they were more and more replaced by modern pant diapers , which made work easier for parents and nursing staff.

From today's point of view, the term “rubber pants” is no longer entirely correct, as the models now on the market are rarely made of a rubber material. These rubber pants are most often offered today made of PVC or a PE-coated material, which is why the terms such as diaper pants, diaper covers, cover pants, medical pants, protective pants, incontinence pants or protective panties are the most common.
