Wittscher pot

The Wittsche pot is a large cylindrical glass device used in chemical laboratories, which can be closed with a ground-joint lid that is provided with a tube. It is used for filtration (sometimes also distillation ) under normal or reduced pressure. For use under reduced pressure, the side of the glass vessel is provided with a suction nozzle via which a connection to a vacuum generator ( water jet pump or vacuum pump ) can be established by means of a vacuum hose .
