Ludwig residential and studio building
The Ludwig residential and studio building at Bergische Landstrasse 313 in Düsseldorf-Ludenberg was built in 1967/1969 according to plans by Eberhard Ludwig.
description
With the geometric, abstract and functional shapes of its façade, the building exhibits a “play of open and closed areas that is reminiscent of the architecture of the De Stijl movement ”.
It is a detached three-family house with an architectural office. Corten steel columns and reinforced concrete beams with a grid spacing of 6 × 6 meters form the construction of the house. These carry exposed concrete slabs that protrude on all sides. The construction consisting of columns, beams and slabs is visible and forms a "constitutive element of the facade". Outside the glass façade, prefabricated concrete parts extending out like cubes were hung, which contain prefabricated sanitary cells or wet rooms and offer additional usable space. In the basement there is a swimming pool that is open to the landscape.
