Wolyn

Volyn was a castle of the Kievan Rus in the 11th century. She was the center of the tribe of Volhynians .

location

The exact location of Volyn was not mentioned in the chronicles. It is probably identical to the large rampart near the village of Gródek in the municipality of Hrubieszów in the powiat Hrubieszowski in the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland.

history

The castle was first mentioned in 1018 when the Polish Duke Bolesław Chrobry defeated Grand Duke Jaroslaw the Wise in a battle there. It was mentioned for the last time in 1077. After that, Vladimir Castle became the center of the Principality of Volhynia .
