X division

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

X-Division is a risky, acrobatic style of wrestling . The term comes from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and describes the typical ring actions for cruiserweight wrestlers (up to approx. 100 kg). This style was also formative for the lightweights of Extreme Championship Wrestling , World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment . In contrast to the classic cruiserweight titles, the X-Division Championship has no weight limit. Anyone who represents this style of wrestling may compete for the title, regardless of size or weight. The commentator of TNA Wrestling, Mike Tenay, summarized this in the debut show as follows: "It's not about weight limits, it's about no limits" ( weight limits are not decisive, no limits are decisive) . In particular, since Total Nonstop Action Wrestling was part of the National Wrestling Alliance in its early days , a championship for this style of wrestling has been incorporated into their program by several other smaller NWA member leagues.
