XML-QL

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

XML-QL is the name of a query language for XML . Many of their ideas flowed into the XQuery language . In practice, XML-QL hardly plays a role anymore, instead mostly XQuery is used, which is based on XML-QL.

XML-QL was largely developed by AT&T Labs and has the special ability that join operations can also be carried out on semi-structured data . XML-QL is based on a where/constructconstruct instead of a select/from/whereconstruct, where the -clause corresponds to constructthe select-clause and the where-clauses to the fromand where-clauses.
