XVC

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The XVC (Extreme Video Coding) codec is a video codec that was first released in September 2017 by the Swedish company Divideon. The codec is a flexible software-defined video compression format that includes a reference encoder and a reference decoder. The XVC codec is primarily based on compression tools derived from MPEG standards such as AVC / H.264 and HEVC. However, it also includes technologies that go beyond these standards and enable unprecedented compression performance (according to the manufacturer).
