XpressNet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The XpressNet is a network developed by Lenz Elektronik to connect various input devices with the central unit of the DCC control for digital model railways. Input devices are control modules, handheld controllers or a computer interface.

The network uses four-core cables; two of these wires provide the power supply for the connected devices, the other two wires are used for data transmission. The XpressNet is an RS-485 interface that transmits the data at 62.5  kbaud . The protocol used allows devices to be connected and disconnected during operation without loss of data.

When installing an XpressNet, it is only necessary to ensure that no rings are formed. According to the manufacturer, networks up to 1 km in length have already been operated without any problems.
