The Zurich Toy Museum was founded in 1956 by Margrit Weber-Beck on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Franz Carl Weber company. In September 1981 the museum moved to Rennweg 26 / Fortunagasse 15, one of the oldest corners of Zurich's old town not far from Bahnhofstrasse .

The collection includes European toys from the 18th to the middle of the 20th century, reflecting the life of the respective epoch in miniature. Railways and steam engines bear witness to the technical revolution, dolls and their clothes show fashion trends, dollhouses show domestic life in earlier times.

From March to November 2009 there was a special exhibition with Sasha Morgenthaler's dolls , currently again in 2016. The collection of Sasha Morgenthaler's dolls and objects is the property of the City of Zurich. The special exhibition Merry Christmas by Post , which tells the story of the postcard , ran until mid-February 2010 . From March 2010, rarities from the collection of Franz Carl Weber were presented under the title Old Treasures Rediscovered.
