The ZAGI 1-EA ( Eksperimentalnii Apparat , Russian ЦАГИ 1-ЭА ) was the first Soviet prototype of a helicopter .

The first connected flight tests began in August 1930. The first flight took place on June 26, 1932 near Moscow . On October 14, 1932, Alexei Cheryomuchin set a world altitude record of 605 meters, which was not officially registered. There were control rotors at the tip and stern. The tests were accident-free until 1934.
