Drawing pad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A drawing pad is a bundle of paper on which motifs are drawn using dry drawing materials .

It differs from other paper blocks and staples in that it is primarily used to create full-fledged drawings . The planning of such is traditionally carried out on smaller-format paper using sketches and only rarely on the drawing pad itself. The front and back of a pad are often reinforced with cardboard to ensure the stability of the paper when drawing, even in an upright position. Gluing on one or both sides as well as spiral or ring collars are common here.

In addition to the classic DIN formats for drawing pads: DIN A1, DIN A2, DIN A3, DIN A4, 240 × 340 mm, 300 × 400 mm, 340 × 480 mm and square formats are also commercially available. The usual number of sheets are: 10, 20, 25, 30, 100.

In order to allow the dry drawing material to adhere better to the surface, the paper used for drawing pads is usually slightly roughened and matt. Drawing pads are not suitable for absorbing liquid with markers or water-based paints, as the types of paper used swell easily. As a rule, grids or lines are not preprinted.
