Tear bearing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zerreißlager is a technical term for a problem when determining the lot size in production planning and describes that a warehouse is emptied faster than it can be refilled at a finite production speed.

definition

"A tear bearing is present when the demand rate is greater than the production rate ."

In the case of a sales warehouse, the problem would be minimized by only producing the type of product that provides the relatively highest unit contribution margin. In an interim storage facility, it is possible that several types are produced, but all of them together are not enough to satisfy sales.

functionality

Since the tear-off warehouse is emptied faster than it fills up, production for a tear-off warehouse must adhere to a certain lead time before the next production stage starts, so that both production stages produce the same number of items and a smooth production process is guaranteed.
