Zhou rites

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rites of the Zhou ( Chinese  周禮 , Pinyin zhōulǐ ), originally known under the title The officials of the Zhou ( 周 官 , zhōuguān ), are also occasionally called The officials and rites of the Zhou ( 周官禮 , zhōuguānlǐ ) and belong to the so-called nine Classics ( 九 經 , jiǔjīng ). This book, probably not written until the time of the usurper Wang Mang (r. 9-23), describes the Confucian rites of the Kingdom of Zhou very carefully and in detail , with the focus on rites of government.
