Circulation control

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A circulation control is required to switch a circulation pump as required . The circulation pump of a hot water system should only run when there is a need for hot water. When the desired temperature is reached, the temperature sensor in the return switches off the pump. A circulation control should ensure that the hygienic technology works efficiently. It is supposed to protect against Legionella by ensuring a forced circulation when there is no hot water requirement for a long time.

A circulation line is required whenever:

  • the longest section of the hot water distribution system holds more than 3 liters
  • the hot water tank (s) together have a volume of more than 400 liters

There are two ways of installing a circulation control: Using an additional device or by integrating it into the pump itself. When integrated into the pump, the circulation control is installed between the circulation pump and the power supply.
